FROG-Cottage 2022: A Commission with the Flavor of Home

Drop-in artist: Creating pieces that capture the essence of special places.

On the commissions page of this very same site, I offer a unique art form. These are collage drawings with compositions based on photos. My technique combines intricate ink drawings with vibrant colors, resulting in detailed and evocative pieces.

The brief for this commission, as I recall, was to create a work that portrayed an Airbnb called Frog-Cottage, located somewhere in France. My "collage stories," as I like to call them, are quite descriptive and provide a more complete sense of the place and event being commemorated.

For this particular piece, I used photos from Instagram to create a beautiful memory of a very special place for the client. This included her Airbnb in France, her family, some charming details, and her beloved dogs.

The artwork is created using ink on watercolor paper, with washes adding color and depth. The style is reminiscent of urban sketching, where the washes complement and enhance the underlying drawing.
